Project CARAT (Coordinating Assisting Reuse of AssistiveTechnology)

Website: Project CARAT (Coordinating Assisting Reuse of AssistiveTechnology)

Project CARAT is a statewide assistive technology reuse program operated through the Kentucky Assistive Technology Service (KATS) Network. The program improves access to assistive technology (AT) and durable medical equipment (DME) for underserved individuals with disabilities throughout Kentucky by collecting, refurbishing, and redistributing equipment through a network of community partners.

Project CARAT helps increase access to low-cost or no-cost equipment for individuals who may not have sufficient funding resources or who need equipment quickly. The program focuses particularly on improving access in rural and underserved areas of Kentucky.

Redistribution centers are currently located in:

  • Lexington
  • Fort Mitchell
  • Owensboro
