The Statewide Hearing Aid Assistance and Reuse Program (SHARP) is operated through the Kentucky Assistive Technology Service (KATS) Network to improve access to hearing aid support services for Kentuckians with hearing loss.

The program assists individuals by providing limited financial assistance for hearing aid repairs, when funding is available, and by supporting the donation and reuse of hearing-related equipment. SHARP also helps reduce barriers to hearing aid access by collecting used hearing aids and related accessories for refurbishment and redistribution efforts.

Eligibility Requirements and Application Process

To qualify for hearing aid repair assistance through SHARP, individuals must:

Be residents of Kentucky; and Have hearing loss requiring hearing aid support or repair services.

Additional program requirements may apply depending on funding availability and repair needs.

AT Services Provided/Covered

SHARP may provide:

  • Financial assistance for hearing aid repairs;
  • Hearing aid reuse and redistribution support;
  • Donation coordination for used hearing aids and accessories; and
  • Information and referral regarding hearing-related assistive technology resources.

Assistive Technology Provided/Covered

The program focuses primarily on: Hearing aids; Hearing aid repairs; Hearing aid remotes; Charging systems; and Related hearing assistive technology accessories.

Available equipment and repair assistance may vary depending on current funding and donation inventory.
