Assistive Technology Exchange (ATEX)
The ATEX List is a free service designed to match consumers of assistive technology who are needing to buy, sell, or donate pieces of assistive technology. The ATEX List provides a listing of pre-owned assistive technology devices available for sale or donation. Information will be updated weekly. Buyers and sellers are responsible for all arrangements and negotiations.
The KATS Network provides the ATEX as a free service and is not responsible for negotiations between the buyer and seller and accepts no liability in the exchange of assistive technology. The KATS Network is serving in an information sharing capacity only. Any users of the ATEX List are solely responsible for the information provided by the user.
For data reporting purposes, the KATS Network will need certain basic information from individuals posting items or wishing to contact those posting items for sale, donation or items needed. This information may be collected as part of the ATEX registration or item submittal process, or in the form of a short survey sent to users by either email or regular mail. Information collected will include the actual price for which an item was sold, reason for using this program, satisfaction ratings, etc.
The KATS Network will not sell, rent or otherwise disperse any information regarding a user to any third party for marketing purposes. Please read the privacy policy and disclaimer for additional details.
Anyone may view the items listed for sale, donation or needed on the ATEX List. To protect the privacy of those listing items, you must register with the ATEX in order to view the contact information for any items listed for sale, donation or items needed.

- 1. What is the ATEX List?
- The ATEX List is a program designed to assist consumers who are interested in buying, selling or donating assistive technology devices. It is a person-to-person exchange that works much like the newspaper classifieds.
- 2. What is the fee for listing an item?
- The KATS Network provides this service free of charge.
- 3. What type of equipment can be listed?
- Any piece of AT that can assist a person in living a more independent life may be listed. Sellers and buyers are responsible for determining the condition of the items.
- 4. How do I list an item for sale, donation or needed?
- Simply click on the link above that says “Submit and item to the ATEX List” to continue on to the ATEX item submit page. Complete all items on the form and click the “Submit” button. By listing an item on the ATEX List, you agree to be conacted by the KATS Network periodically through email, mail or phone for follow up information regarding your experience with the ATEX List. This information will be used for data collection purposes and will help to keep the ATEX a free service.
- 5. How long will my information be listed?
- You will be notified by email after your item has been listed for 90 days. You then have the option to either remove it or renew it for another 90 days. If you do not reply back within 2 weeks, the item will be removed.
- 6. What do I do when my equipment sells?
- After your equipment sells, please notify Jimmy Brown by email at JamesA.Brown@ky.gov or by telephone at (800) 327-5287 to have the item removed. Prompt notification will help us keep our information current. You will be asked to complete a short survey to include amount item was sold for, satisfaction, etc.
- 7. What happens after I add an item to the ATEX List?
- After you submit your item, it will be reviewed and posted to the ATEX List in a timely manner.
- 8. How can I view the contact information for listed items?
