Description: Autism Institute is an annual event designed for special & general educators, related service providers, family members and mental health professionals who work or care for individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorders. Others interested in supporting persons affected by autism are encouraged to attend.
A limited number of scholarships, granted by KATC, are available to Family Members and Para-Professionals for conference admission fee. Contact KATC for more information or an application.
Federal monies allocated by Kentucky Council on Developmental Disabilities’s Consumer Involvement Fund (Conference Scholarships Through Reimbursement) are also available. Go to www.kcdd.ky.gov and follow the links to the Consumer Involvement Fund application form. Or call toll free: (877) 367-5332 ext.7 to request a form.

Description: Augmentative Communication Evaluations Simplified: Tools and Resources. This workshop will focus on planning and implementing effective augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) evaluations using a “toolkit” approach.
Augmentative communication evaluation techniques will be reviewed for children and adults, as well as AAC solutions from the simplest to the most sophisticated needs. Evidence-based practice will be presented within the framework context and additional web-based resources from a variety of sites will be demonstrated and provided to participants.

Description: Conference Keynote Speaker: Jeff Strully, Agua Dulce, California, Executive Dir. of Jay Nolan Community Services, an agency supporting people with autism spectrum disorder and other developmental disabilities in Los Angeles and surrounding counties. Jeff is the parent of an adult daughter with intellectual and developmental disabilities who was fully included in school including college. He has also worked in various places around the country including Community Living in Colorado, Seven Counties Services, Louisville, KY, and The Arc of Pennsylvania.

Description:The Human Development Institute at the University of Kentucky is sponsoring a one day event celebrating accessible opportunities in recreation, with Special Guest, Tim Farmer - Kentucky Afield.
Come out and have fun with us as you learn about ways to access a variety of recreation / leisure activities. We'll have a good time with great speakers and a super summer lunch. If you are one of the first to register, you will also be able to tie dye your own t-shirt in our morning arts session. Registration cost is $15. Some scholarships are available. Online registration is now available.
