Now every person with any type of disability can go to the polls and vote independently on General Election Day, November 4th.
Under the Help America Vote Act (HAVA), individuals with all types of disabilities can now vote on an accessible voting machine. Every voting location in the Commonwealth of Kentucky is required to be accessible and to have an accessible voting machine. There should not be any structural barriers that would prevent a person with a disability from entering the voting location. If you experience difficulties, contact Kentucky Disabilities Coalition at 1-800-977-7505.
Try out an online demonstration of the accessible voting machine used by your county before you vote. Go to the KATS Network website at http://www.katsnet.org/announcements/index2.php?id=4 and select your county. You will be forwarded to a demonstration of your machine.
If you encounter problems casting your vote: Call your local County Clerk, or The Kentucky Protection & Advocacy (P&A) Voter Hotline from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. (EST) on General Election Day to advise voters with disabilities.
The Hotline Number is 1-800-372-2988. For more information about P&A in Kentucky, visit the Protection & Advocacy Website
If you have a legal guardian and questions about voting, give P&A a call.
